One Book, One L&A 2016

The County of Lennox & Addington Libraries are pleased to announce that Season of Darkness by Maureen Jennings will be the official selection for 2016’s One Book, One L&A community reading program.

one book, one la poster
Maureen Jennings is renowned author of historical mysteries. She is best known as the author of the Detective Murdoch series, which has been turned into the long running CBC television series, Murdoch Mysteries.

Season of Darkness is the first book in Jennings’ Tom Tyler series. During the darkest days of WWII, young women from all walks of life have joined the Land Army to help desperate farmers keep the country fed. When one girl is found murdered on a desolate country road, Detective Tom Tyler is almost glad for the distraction from other troubles. His rural posting is dull. A lover has reappeared and turned his emotions upside down. His soldier son seems utterly changed by Dunkirk and his daughter is an unhappy 16. When another girl disappears, his investigation is further complicated and tensions are about to reach an all-time high in this small, English town.

season of darknessYou can reserve this title at your local branch of the County of L&A Libraries. Individuals, book clubs, organizations, employers – everyone – is invited to take up the challenge of the One Book, One Community initiative and organize their own way of “getting on the same page.” This program will culminate with the library’s 3rd Annual Author Gala with Maureen Jennings, which will be October 15th, 2pm at the County Museum & Archives.

This would be wonderful to attend except for the fact that I have no idea where to go. It would have been nice, at least, to have an address to look up.
